Starting from no clear pathway into the industry, to now judging the RESI Awards 2026 –  this marks a huge milestone for Inspire New Homes Founder, Asha Agarwal. She is still that girl with big dreams… and they are coming true as she sits as a leader & judge at one of the biggest nights in residential property.

The RESI Awards are widely recognised as one of the most prestigious events in the UK residential property calendar, celebrating excellence across housebuilding, affordable housing, customer experience, sales, marketing and placemaking.

This year, Asha had the privilege of sitting alongside some of the most respected leaders in the industry to review and recognise the organisations, projects and individuals helping shape the future of residential property.

But the moment represented far more than a seat on a judging panel. It was a reminder that where you start does not define where you end up.

A Journey Built on Resilience

Growing up on a council estate, Asha had no industry connections, no established network and no obvious route into property. Like many people entering the sector, she had to navigate her career without a roadmap. What followed was a journey built on resilience, determination and a willingness to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow.

Today, Asha is the Founder of Inspire New Homes, an award-winning consultancy supporting local authorities, housing associations and developers with new homes sales, marketing and affordable home ownership strategies. For over more than two decades in the property sector, she has worked across affordable housing, shared ownership, private sales and regeneration projects helping organisations deliver successful residential communities across the UK.

Alongside running her business, she has become a recognised industry speaker, awards judge and board member, passionate about helping create opportunities for others entering the profession.

Celebrating Industry Leaders

A particular highlight of the evening was seeing Geeta Nanda OBE receive the prestigious Hall of Fame Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to housing and the wider property sector.

Her achievement serves as a powerful reminder of the impact strong leadership can have on organisations, communities and future generations.

Recognising Excellence Across Residential Property

The opportunity to judge the RESI Awards is both a privilege and a responsibility. Behind every award submission are teams of dedicated professionals working to improve housing delivery, create exceptional customer experiences and build communities where people can thrive.

The judging process highlighted the incredible talent, innovation and commitment that exists across the residential property sector. From developers and housing associations to sales teams, marketers and placemaking professionals, the awards showcase the very best of the industry.

Reflecting on the experience, Asha said:

“It’s a reminder that where you start doesn’t define where you end up.”

The Importance of Representation and Opportunity

While the property sector has made significant progress in recent years, there is still work to do when it comes to creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds.

Many talented individuals enter the industry without connections, mentors or a clear understanding of the opportunities available to them. Asha believes that success often comes down to more than hard work alone.

Throughout her career, many of the opportunities that changed her life came from people who opened doors, put her name forward and believed in her potential.

As the industry continues to focus on diversity, inclusion and social mobility, there is an opportunity for leaders to do more than simply mentor future talent.

There is an opportunity to actively sponsor it. To advocate for people when they are not in the room. To create opportunities, not just conversations.

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn’t.

Creating a Safe Space for Growth

One of the biggest lessons from Asha’s own journey is that career progression can often feel lonely. Many professionals reach a point where they feel stuck, uncertain about their next move or unsure how to unlock the opportunities available to them. Others may be entering the industry without the networks, support or confidence that many take for granted.

This is one of the reasons Inspire New Homes is exploring future initiatives focused on learning, coaching, mentoring, sponsorship and creating a safe space for people across the property sector to connect, learn and grow.

The vision is to help individuals gain access to the knowledge, networks and support that can help accelerate careers and build confidence.

Whether someone is just starting out, looking to progress into leadership, considering a career change or seeking guidance on their next step, no one should feel they have to navigate their journey alone.

Gratitude

Reflecting on the experience, Asha’s message remains simple:

“I’m proud, grateful and still just getting started.”

A big thank you to Property Week for the opportunity to be part of this year’s judging panel.

Looking Ahead

As Inspire New Homes continues to grow, so too does its commitment to supporting the future of the property profession.

Through industry events, speaking engagements, thought leadership, coaching and future learning initiatives, the business remains focused on helping people build successful and fulfilling careers within the property sector.

If you’re feeling stuck in your career, looking to grow your confidence, explore opportunities within the property industry or would simply value guidance from someone who has navigated the journey themselves, we’d love to hear from you.

Likewise, if your organisation is passionate about developing future talent, improving social mobility, supporting diversity and inclusion or collaborating on industry initiatives, we welcome the opportunity to connect.
